The “S-Code” designation signifies the inclusion of the largest and most powerful big block motor Ford offered at the time - the well renowned 390 cubic inch V8 engine. Moreover, the “GTA” designation adds an extra layer of allure and exclusivity as the “Grand Touring Automatic” was only available in 1967. While the 390 engine was available in other Mustang configurations, the GTA package was less common, making these cars highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
