1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Restomod Coupe
For the 1955 model year, Chevrolets passenger car was transformed by a ground-up redesign that offered something that the previous years didnt stylish sizzle. The wheelbase and series names, One-Fifty, Two-Ten and Bel Air, were about the only things that were carried over. 1955 brought about big improvements that included better brakes, handling, steering and interior room. 1955-1957 were watershed years for Chevrolet, who spent a million dollars in 1956 alone for retooling, in order to make their less expensive Bel Air models look more like a Cadillac.
For the 1955 Year, Americans purchased 7.1 million new automobiles and out of that was 1.7 Million Chevrolet's, giving the company fully 44% of the low-price market and surpassing Ford in total unit sales by 250,000. The Bel Air was an instant hit with consumers and is still a highly collectible car in today's generations of classic car enthusiasts!
